The Mayfair restaurant of China Tang was conceived by Sir David Tang, the founder of China Clubs in Hong Kong, Peking and Singapore, as well as the lifestyle brand, "Shanghai Tang". China Tang offers some of the most authentic Cantonese and Chinese food outside of China, to include signature dishes of noodles and Peking Duck.
Sir David launched the China Tang restaurant in London's Dorchester Hotel and the Island Tang restaurant in Hong Kong. Born and educated in Hong Kong until the age of 13, followed by boarding school in Britain, Sir David subsequently studied law and Philosophy at college, which he went on to teach at Peking University in 1983.
Passionately involved with the arts, Sir David was a trustee of the Royal Academy of Arts for 15 years.
The iconic, art-deco interior is designed to evoke the romanticism of the Thirties - as well as the quirky objets d’arts, the Chinese restaurant in London also showcases a collection of traditional and contemporary Chinese art, all personally chosen by Sir David Tang.
China Tang’s exquisite bar is considered to be one of the best cocktail bars in London, offering a list of classic cocktails, a perfect accompaniment to the some of the best Dim Sum in town and available all day.
